After a 10-year hiatus, the familiar nameplate is coming back to the U.S. market. Although experts were suggesting different scenarios and expect a body-on-frame SUV, the new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will actually be a crossover. Moreover, it will be a quite small crossover, much smaller than you’ve probably expected.
The new model will be placed between the Trax and Equinox in terms of size. The new model will come with tons of new design solutions, aesthetically inspired by recently launched Blazer. Oher than attractive look, expect to see a lot of functionality and efficient engines under the hood.
- All-new model
- Efficient turbo engines
- Attractive styling
- Lots of features
- Interior probably won’t be at the same level of quality compared to rivals
- Tough competition
At this point, the exterior is definitely the most striking part of the new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer. As we already mentioned, the new crossover takes a lot of inspiration from the bigger Blazer. In practice, this means pretty much a Camaro-inspired front end. A lot of sharp edges and aggressive look is something that will characterize the new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Of course, the rest of the vehicle comes in a typical SUV manner. As we already mentioned, it will stand between Trax and Equinox in terms of size. That means it will compete mostly with compact crossovers, with models like Kia Sportage, Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX-30 and others.
Mechanically, the new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer won’t have anything in common with the models that were discontinued a decade ago. Not only that the new model is notably smaller, but also comes with a completely different approach. While the previous model was a typical body-on-frame SUV, the new model is rather a crossover. The focus is on on-road driveability, as well as on better comfort. Therefore, don’t expect any spectacular off-road capabilities.
It is still early to talk about interior details, but we can presume some of the most general things. Typically for the segment, the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer won’t offer some spectacular amount of legroom and cargo volume. Still, count on a decent level of comfort and enough space to accommodate four adult passengers.
Speaking of aesthetics, count on a typical Chevy approach. This means that the company will rather put the focus of functionality, that on things like attractive dashboard layout and quality materials. In these aspects, the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will be pretty average. On the other side, we count on a long list of standard and available features, which will include some of the latest tech goodies and driver aids.
2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer Engines
Although we are still waiting for official details, it’s not hard to presume that the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will rely on proven engines. Practically, there are three engines that are in the game for this crossover. The first one that comes to mind is a 1.5-liter turbo-four. With a max output 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, this unit seems like a perfect measure for a crossover like this.
Still, we presume that many drivers would prefer something peppier. Of course, a 2.0-liter turbo-four is the one that comes to mind. This unit is good for about 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, which will definitely ensure sporty performances. The third one is a 1.4-liter engine from Trax. This one delivers around 140 horsepower but doesn’t seem very likely, according to the latest reports.
2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer Release Date and Price
The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is an all-new model to come, so it’s not hard to make a conclusion that it will probably arrive earlier than usual. We know for sure it will come next year, but don’t know anything more precise. Some reports suggest next summer, and this makes a lot of sense. When it comes to the price, we can only rely on rough estimations that suggest around $22,000 for base models.
