2021 Lincoln Navigator

2021 Lincoln Navigator

A year and a half ago, the fourth generation of the legendary full-size luxury SUV came to the market. It is still a quite fresh vehicle and, normally, we wouldn’t expect to see more important changes in the near future. However, the fact is that the closest rival, Cadillac Escalade, is coming completely new this year, so Lincoln will probably prepare some response. At this point, we can only rely on speculations, and many of them suggest a new powertrain, as well as some other, smaller updates. Allegedly, the company will introduce a new, hybrid version, while we can also see some updates in terms of standard equipment.

Is there a chance to see a hybrid version?

Although we are still waiting to hear something from the officials, these rumors don’t sound unlikely at all. It’s no secret that Ford is working on a new hybrid system that would power large SUVs and trucks, so the 2021 Lincoln Navigator Hybrid could be one of the first models come with such setup.

However, details are still unavailable, though most reports suggest it will be based on a V6 engine.

Engine

Pros

  • Super-luxurious cabin
  • Excellent ride quality
  • Powerful engine
  • Lots of tech goodies

Cons

  • Second row features center console which limits cargo functionality
  • Competition is getting stronger

While the hybrid model is yet to be confirmed, we have no doubt that the current gasoline version will carry on without bigger changes. Of course, it is a modern, twin-turbo V6 engine, the same one that powers F-150 Raptor. It currently features a max output of around 450 horsepower. Despite the “lack” of cylinders, it actually delivers more power than many V8-powered rivals.

Coupled with a 10-speed automatic, it offers probably the finest driving experience in the class, at the moment. Even the fuel economy seems quite decent for the class. It returns around 16 mpg in the city 23 mpg on the highway.

Exterior

Some would suggest a facelift for this occasion, but we feel it’s too early for such changes. The 2021 Lincoln Navigator will probably carry on with a familiar styling, while the changes will be left for another year. Even if this update happens, we don’t expect to see any significant change. The updates will be subtle and the overall style will definitely keep its familiar characteristics.

Interior Design

On the inside, we also don’t expect to see bigger changes. The current model already features a super-fine interior, plush materials and tons of standard equipment. Therefore, the best we could see is some new color schemes. Other than that, things will remain pretty much the same.

Features

This is the aspect where we could see a couple of updates. Still, keep in mind that the current model is already very generous, so don’t expect miracles. Things like a 10-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, 14-speaker audio system, navigation, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and others are already part of the standard equipment. Some reports suggest that a premium 20-speaker audio system could become available in base models too.

A list of standard safety systems could be longer in the current model and that is where we could see updates for the 2021 Navigator. Currently, standard features are a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors, while the most advanced features are optional. Some of the potential candidates that could become standard in the upcoming model are things like a 360-degree camera, emergency brake assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, head-up display etc.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Release Date and Price

A new powertrain seems like a nice update but it looks like the 2021 Lincoln Navigator won’t come any earlier. We should see it in the last quarter of the next year. The price shouldn’t change too much, so base models will probably go around $73,000 – $74,000.
