After the recent redesign, it is pretty much certain that the 2021 Toyota Corolla will continue in the same way. This legend still dominates the market and there are tons of good reasons for that. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the Japanese manufacturer won’t stop with this redesign and that changes are about to come with the second-production year as well.
Allegedly, we are about to see a new hybrid powertrain in the offer, which is already available in Europe and offers an amazing balance between power and fuel economy. Other than that, the 2021 Toyota Corolla should be reinforced with a couple of new standard features. The rest of the vehicle is expected to carry on in the same way, so don’t count on any earlier arrival.
- Impressive fuel economy
- Miles-long list of safety features
- Attractive base price
- Goor driving dynamics
- Rivals look finer on the inside
- Hatchback has a pretty small trunk
- Turbo-four option would be great
In terms of base design characteristics, we have no doubt that the 2021 Toyota Corolla won’t feature any major change. The recent redesign has brought so many amazing novelties. Of course, the most important is a new TNGA platform, which makes the new Corolla better in pretty much all aspects. Some of the highlights are much better driveability, thanks to far more precise handling and stability. Also, the dynamics are far better.
Besides improved driving experience, this model has brought new styling. Essentially, the new Corolla is instantly recognizable, as it features a well-known silhouette, despite bigger dimensions. Of course, the front end is adapted to the brand’s latest design language, so you can notice a lot of similarities with the new Camry and other new models from the Japanese carmaker. After several years of break, the Corolla is once again available not just in sedan version, but also as a hatchback.
Considering all these novelties and improvements, it seems hard to expect bigger changes for the second production year. Therefore, the best we could see from the 2021 Toyota Corolla are minor novelties like new color options and similar things.
Once again, don’t count on bigger changes. The recent redesign has brought a completely new cabin, which looks much better. Although many of you probably don’t like the new touchscreen design, the fact is that this cabin features pretty good overall quality. It may not be on par with rivals like Mazda 3, Honda Civic or VW Golf, but keep in mind that this model comes with a significantly lower price.
On the other side, this model really shines when it comes to safety features. Even the most basic versions come with things like pre-collision pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition. This definitely looks very impressive.

2021 Toyota Corolla Engines
At the moment, there are two gasoline engines in the offer and we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year. Of course, there is a well-known 1.8-liter unit, which delivers around 140 horsepower. There is also a newer 2.0-liter engine with around 170 horsepower. With such engines, the Corolla definitely isn’t fast. On the other side, the fuel economy is excellent. No matter the engine choice, it easily goes over 30 mpg in the city and close to 40 mpg on the highway.
Things are even better with the hybrid version. An old 121-hp powertrain is still in the offer. It’s not very powerful but ensures unparalleled fuel economy, which in any situation goes way over 50 miles per gallon. A new hybrid powertrain is expected in the future, with a max output of more than 180 horsepower.
2021 Toyota Corolla Release Date and Price
Despite the fine list of potential novelties, the 2021 Toyota Corolla shouldn’t come before the last quarter of the next year. When it comes to the price, base versions will go around $19,500.
