There is no doubt that this version is highly anticipated by many truck enthusiasts. Oil-burners are becoming more popular among truck drivers these days. More precisely, we are about to see the same 5.0-liter V8 turbodiesel from Cummins, which delivers around 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque.
Considering that the current gasoline versions are the thirstiest trucks in the class, a significantly improved fuel economy would be the first benefit from this engine. Also, we expect to see significant improvement in terms of towing capacity. The current model can tow up to 10.200 pounds, while the new diesel version should be able to tow around 12.500 pounds.
The rest of the lineup will continue in the same way. Base models will carry on with a familiar 4.6-liter V8, which is good for about 310 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. Of course, higher trims will feature a well-known 5.7-liter unit, which delivers 380 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.

With all the novelties that are about to come with the 2021 Toyota Tundra Diesel, we expect to see it a little bit earlier than usual. Most likely, it will hit the market sometime in the third quarter of the next year. This version will probably feature starting price of around $35,000.
